"What made me choose Total in Support is the fact that they have a lot of experience with creatives and the creative sector"
In 2006 Ivo van der Bent graduated from the photography academy in Amsterdam and won its Photo Academy Award: it was a good year for him. He won the Award with his photo series of grandmothers with rollators, commissioned by the Volkskrant. After his studies he immediately started his own business and since then the Volkskrant has used his services several times. Apart from the Volkskrant, Ivo's circle of clients consists of several advertising agencies and ministries (LNV, VROM).
The portfolio of Ivo van der Bent mostly portrays people doing regular things such as eating, working, recreating, et cetera. But every photograph has a certain atmosphere that makes it very interesting. Ivo says he doesn't necessarily portrays people in a pretty way. He tries to find a certain moment that shows something new, unexpected or revealing. Some examples are Peter-Jan Rens urinating in public, Carice van Houten on the toilet, Herman den Blijker almost sneezing and Henk Bleker looking sort of surprised. When for example a magazine asks Ivo for some photographs to go with their story he provides them with photographs, but he does it in his very own way.
